The YES Center is open Monday – Thursday, from 2:45-5 p.m. for middle and high school students. The program is designed to provide positive and fun activities for youth during the after-school hours. Come hang with your friends or take part in activities such as, billiards and billiard tournaments, movie days, baking, field trips, leadership activities and raft projects. The center has a NEW computer lab with Wi-Fi open for use. The program also includes FREE homework help, Monday – Thursday from 3-4 p.m. with volunteers from the GLHS National Honor Society and various college students.

Adult, Child and Infant CPR
Learn how to recognize the warning signs of a heart attack and stroke, as well as respiratory distress in choking. Learn to perform rescue breathing, CPR and the Heimlich maneuver on adults, children and infants. Learn two-rescuer CPR and the correct use of barrier devices. The student will receive a course completion card upon successful completion of this class. (This class meets all requirements for Day Care Licensing, Adult Foster Care and Girl Scout Leaders.) Class minimum of 3 students, maximum of 20 students.

Adult Water Exercise
Very basic exercises done in the water. No swimming experience needed. No pre-registration required. Just show up to class ro enroll. (There will be no swimming if there is no school on that day.)
Cost: $5 per person each time or $50 for 16 classes (punch card good for 3 months).

Babysitting
The students will learn emergency procedures, discipline techniques and diapering, as well as age appropriate activities. Pediatrict (child and infant) CPR, rescue breathing and the Heimlich maneuver will also be covered along with basic first aid skills needed while babysitting. Upon completion of the class, the student will receive a Pediatrict CPR card, a Basic First Aid card and a Babysitting Course certificate. Class minimum is 8 students, maximum 15 students.

Basic First Aid
Learn how to assess an injured or ill person for the need of medical attention and how to prevent further injury to an already injured person. Learn how to respond quickly and safely to an emergency and provide basic first aid until professionals arrive. Learn the proper way to treat the injured; including shock, bleeding, splinting, burns and poisoning. The student will receive a course completion card upon successful completion of this class. (This class meets all requirements for Day Care Licensing, Adult Foster Care and Girl Scout Leaders.) Class minimum of 3 students, maximum of 20 students.
Prerequisite: A current CPR card or being registered in the above CPR class.

KidzArt
Students proudly complete a work of art in one hour! The interactive classroom atmosphere builds creative thinkers and problem solves as we stress that there are no mistakes in art, only opportunities. they will learn to explore how to interpret shapes, colors and proportions. Mediums include: Prismacolor Makers, charcoal, pastel, copper tooling and more. A $30 supply fee, payable to the instructor at the first class.

Lifeguarding
Must be 15 yeas of age and able to pass a pre-test including: 500 yards (200 crawlstroke, 200 breaststroke, 100 choice), tread water for two minutes with no arm support and retrieve a 10 pound brick from the bottom of the pool
Cost: $160 per student (add $20 if you would like your own CPR pocket mask)

Open Swim
Two lap lanes provided. Children under 7 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Inflatable flotation devices, such as water wings, rafts, etc. are not allowed in the pool. (There will be no swimming if there is no school on that day.)
Cost: $3 per person or $9 per family each time.
For groups of 10 or more, only $2 per person.
Great for Scout troops, team parties or birthday parties.
New swim passes are 10 for $25 for one person or $70 per 10 family tickets.

Lessons
Classes are conducted on Saturdays for 8 weeks. Children must be 5 years old (except for parnt/tot classes).

Level Descriptions
Starfish - Parent and Tot (ages 2 -5) offers water adjustment, games and safety. Maximum 15 students.
Guppies - Parent and Tot (ages 2-5) should take starfish first. Will introduce water independence, start of the crawlstroke and bye-bye backstroke and water safety. Maximum 15 students.
Pre-Level I - For children that need a little more time and understanding getting used to the water. Class limited to 5 students.
Level I - Just starting out, will learn floats, kick, glides, how to have fun and be safe in the water. Maximum 15 students.
Level II - Passed Level I or able to float on own and kick & fin the width of the pool. Maximum 14 students.
Level III - Passed Level II or able to kick fin length of pool, jump in the deep end, crawlstroke the width of the pool. Maximum 15 students.
Level IV - Passed Level III or swim crawlsroke the length of the pool, know backsroke and how to dive. Maximum 15 students.
Level V - Passed Level IV or able to swim crawlstroke, backstroke, elementary backstroke, treading and survival float for two minutes. Maximum 15 students.
Level VI - Passed Level V or able to swim 100 yard crawlstroke, backstroke, elementary b ackstroke and breaststroke. Maximum 15 students.
Springboard Diving - should already have srong dive off he side of the pool.
