The Grand Ledge High School Counseling Office is here to support the academic, career, and personal / social development of all students.  We strive to help students realize their full academic and personal potential as lifelong learners and global citizens.

Meet The Counseling Staff

9th Grade - Dawn Anderson

Ms. Anderson, Freshmen Counselor    Mrs. Anderson earned her BA in Elementary education in 1989 and MA in School Counseling in 1993 from Michigan State University.  She taught 2nd-10th grade at Hope Academy in Lansing and then homeschooled students for one year while completing her Masters degree.  She spent her first two years as a counselor at Brandywine Jr./Sr. High School in Niles, Michigan before coming to Grand Ledge in 1995.  Her first position in Grand Ledge was at Beagle Middle School and she has been counseling at Grand Ledge High School since 2000. She has coordinated many programs including Gifted and Talented, Advanced Placement, and the Military Representatives. Her current role as the Freshman Counselor is to focus on the transition to high school and helping students to be successful.  She currently is active as a facilitator of the Reaching and Teaching Struggling Learners grant which focuses on dropout prevention and systemic Response to Intervention activities. She currently resides in Grand Ledge with her husband, Bill and daughter, Brynn. She enjoys reading, quilting, gardening and travel.

10th Grade - Laurel Miller

 Laurel Miller  Mrs. Miller graduated from Okemos High School and has been a life-long resident of the Greater Lansing Area.  She earned her BS in Psychology from Michigan State University in 1995 and her Masters degree in Counseling from Michigan State University in May 2000.   Mrs. Miller joined Grand Ledge Public Schools in the fall of 2000 as the guidance counselor at Beagle Middle School, where she enjoyed 10 fun years of working with 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. She joined the Grand Ledge High School staff in the fall of 2010, and she is happy to be part of all the exciting things happening here! Mrs. Miller resides with her husband and daughter in East Lansing, and is proud to say that both of her parents are true “yoopers”. An avid Spartan fan, she and her husband are Izzone Alumni, and they did not miss a single MSU men’s basketball game during their 1999-2000 National Championship season! Besides attending MSU sporting events, Mrs. Miller also enjoys movies, shopping, jigsaw puzzles, and spending summer family vacations on the beaches of Lake Michigan.

11th Grade - Stacey Woodworth

Stacy Woodworth  Ms. Woodworth received her undergraduate degree from Central Michigan University majoring in Interpersonal and Public Communication, Theatre, and Psychology. She acquired her Masters degree in Clinical Agency Counseling in August of 2001 at Siena Heights University. In December 2005 she finished her certification in school counseling. She has been counseling for over 15 years. Mrs. Woodworth's experience includes working in a residential treatment center with emotionally and mentally impaired children for over 5 years. She was a group leader for survivors of sexual abuse, perpetrators of sexual abuse, victims of domestic violence, and anger management. She was also the Counseling Director in a Domestic Violence Shelter. She was an independent contractor for Insight Recovery Center in Flint and Ascension Family Services in Owosso. Stacey worked as a counselor at Chesaning Union Schools for 7 years. Stacey is a member of the American Counseling Association, and the Michigan School Counselor Association. She is the proud parent of Cervantes Woodworth.

12th Grade - Jackie Bass

Jackie Bass  Mrs. Bass graduated from Battle Creek Central High School, attended Hope College one year, married and lived in Kaiserslautern, Germany for two years. She was able to visit eight countries while living in Europe and renewed her goal to study foreign language. In 1980, she completed her BA in Secondary Education at Western Michigan University (WMU) and taught Spanish and US History for eighteen years. She developed an eighth-grade Exploratory Spanish program in Bellevue and Pennfield Schools, organized international travel and worked on school musicals. Ms. Bass earned an MA in Counseling Education/Counseling Psychology at WMU in 1999 and began work at Grand Ledge High School that same year. She is adviser to the foreign exchange students, coordinates the Advanced Placement program, and serves as department chair. She is also daily grateful to work in this fulfilling, student-centered environment. Jackie’s two adult daughters- one in Kalamazoo, one in the Peace Corps in Mozambique- are a very important part of her life. She also enjoys music, reading, shopping, and travel.
