SAVE OUR STUDENTS, SCHOOLS AND STATE (SOS Michigan)
The Washtenaw Intermediate School District (WISD) was named a winner in the 2007 annual Michigan School Public Relations Association (MSPRA) Communications Contest. WISD received a Distinguished Award in the Project or Program category for their entry, “Michigan's School Funding Crisis.” Grand Ledge Public Schools believes this is an accurate overview of the circumstances that have brought about the funding crisis and notes that most of the suggestions for districts to increase their revenue have been implemented in Grand Ledge.
We know that if something isn't done to change the way public schools are funded, the students of Michigan will face devasting cuts to the education system. It is imperative that support for public education be heard in Lansing. We encourage everyone to take an active interest in the youth of Michigan and contact their elected representatives in Lansing. Let them know we are watching and encourage them to show their support for public education by taking the lead to find a solution so that our schools do not have to take such deep and dramatic cuts. You may visit the Board of Education's Capital Connections page to find your representatives so that you can contact them and let them know they must do something now to ensure the future of all Michigan students!
