In 2002, Grand Ledge Public Schools' voters approved a 1 Mill Sinking Fund for 10 years. This 10-year revenue source has made it possible for us to maintain and improve our school facilities without taking revenue from the classroom. As the Michigan public education funding system continues to be scrutinized in Lansing, we need to ensure the facility improvements investments made possible through the Sinking Fund are maintained without impacting the instructional integrity of Grand Ledge Public Schools. This modest renewal will do that.
Please remember..... Sinking Fund dollars are restricted in use to repair and construction projects, and real estate purchases. All projects must be pre-approved by the Michigan Department of Treasury. Monies from a Sinking Fund CAN NOT be used to purchase textbooks or pay employee salaries or benefits.
