Public Education in the Fight of its Life!
Public Education is in the fight of its life!! The Governor and other politicians continue to demonize public schools, teachers, and administrators; while at the same time defunding education.

Dr. David Arsen, an economist and Professor of Education at MSU, wrote an "open letter" to Governor Snyder regarding the future of public education. GLPS Superintendent Dr. Brian Metcalf believes "his perspective and statements regarding what is happening in Michigan is 100% spot on." He encourages everyone to take a moment to read Dr. Arsen's letter in its entirety and forward the link on to everyone you know.   http://goo.gl/ka5z4
*New* Online Volunteer Registration

Grand Ledge Public Schools remains committed to ensuring the safety of its students.  The newest procedure in this endeavor is the Volunteer Registration process.  Persons interested in volunteering at any of our schools should log on to the Volunteer Registration Form  located under the Parent / Student Resources Tab.  Once the requesting volunteer submits the form, the district’s central office will complete a background check through the Michigan State Police.

Following a successful background check, volunteers are placed on an approved list of volunteers and can volunteer in any of the Grand Ledge Public Schools buildings. All volunteers must report to the school office for identification verification by presenting a driver’s license, State issued I.D. or passport.  School offices will provide the volunteer with a BADGE prior to proceeding to any other areas on school property.  The badge is only good for one day and volunteers must check in at the office each time they are going to be in the building to receive the appropriate badge.

Questions regarding this process may be directed to the Human Resources office by calling 925-5406.

District Strategic Plan Update
Grand Ledge Public Schools is in the process of developing a new district Strategic Plan.  The first phase of this process was hosting several focus group discussions, led by Jeff Gartner of Gartner & Associates.  Over 100 parents, students, community members and staff participated in the focus groups to provide input.  For complete details on the Strategic Plan process or to read the Focus Group Report, visit our 2013-16 Strategic Plan page.
